Some scientists discover these portals that lead to other places, and you jump in one of them and start killing things.

You think that the serpent riders you fought in Heretic and Hexen were dead but now they're back and you go back after them and start killing things.

Quake2
Earth, for some reason, decides to go blow up some planet. The aleins don't like this and shoot down everything. Your in one of the things that gets shot down. Now you go kill things.

Half-life
You're doing a top-secret experiment in an old missile base. Suddenly you open up a portal and see weird creatures. They come to our world and run around the building. Then the militery comes and decides to kill everything. So you decide to start killing things.

Unreal
You are imprisoned in a spaceship for a really long time. Then the spaceship crashes and you can come out. An alien is eating your friend so you shoot it. This doesn't work, so you decide to get better weapons and start killing things.

It is 2000 A.D. and ahh..forget it.
Daikatana
It is 2030 A.D. and Dr. Tetsuo Ebihara discovers the cure for AIDS.

It is 2455 A.D. and Dr. Tetsuo Ebihara's grandson (141 years per generation?), Dr. Toshiro Ebihara, digs up the Daikatana, a long sword.

It is 2455 A.D. and Jarred Benedict, his evil assistant, uses the sword to kill Dr. Toshiro Ebihara and go back in time to take credit for the AIDS cure.

It is 2455 A.D. and Hiro Miyamoto, Dr. Toshiro Ebihara's best student, goes back in time along with Mikiko Ebihara and Superfly Johnson to set thing right.

It is 1998 A.D. and you just bought the game.

It is 2030 B.C. and you aren't in the right place.

It is 560 A.D. and you are still in the wrong place.

It is 2030 A.D. and you are in the right place so you start killing things.
