Half-life resource page

There's a new resource site for all aspects of half-life including decals, texts, links and some other stuff copied from this site, here.

New map in the works

Got an e-mail from Michael Lohmann from deCyber Halflife:

Hi...Michael Lohmann from deCyber Halflife here...

I think you wanna see these shots of our new official deCyber Halflife map. It's created by our builder Mark Austin and if everything goes well we can finally release it sunday or monday. But let me show you what we have created this time. A deathmatch map and you bet it will your Half-life.

Shot 1
Shot 2
Shot 3
Shot 4
This is just one map you'll see from us. We will release 30-40 official maps next year (I hope) and all my builders from deCyber Unreal
will now start to build Half-life maps.
Guess you like to hear that :-)

Have a great weekend

Level 5 screens

Level 5 has updated with three screens, (all of the same place), so if you're the mod-buying type, go check them out.

Coders needed

Celeron of the RIYF army, is currently working and an all crowbar mod, which is going to be nice. But, he needs some coder, because that is the root of all mods. So gice him a ring if you're interested.

Scandinavia galore

A danish Half-life site opened up called Half-life.dk. It's in danish, so most probably won't be able to read it.

Finished!

After two and a half days, I finally kicked Half-life's butt. I was playing on the difficult skill level right from the start btw... so it _was_ a teeny bit tricky in places! I'm going to write up a short little article on what I thought of the game, etc, etc... sometime soon. I have to get back into real life at the moment!

On other news, Contaminated.net has a new hosted site all about running a Half-life server, which I'm sure will provide an essential service to all those eager server admins everywhere.

I also saw over on LanParty that there is a multiplayer Half-life review... well I can review it in one word... coolies! ;-) Take a look here for a screenshot of one of my games of Half-Life on a Barrysworld Half-Life server, (btw, my nick in Half-Life is [Alvin]TF, in the faction Squad).

1st patch

The first patch has been released.
1) You need this to play DM
2) It won't kill you saved games and
3) It only works for the US, here's the rest of the info.

[1] WHAT THE UPDATE CONTAINS
====================================
Update 1.0.0.6 addresses:
1. Disabled the music track check in CD Authentication. One problem that some people faced was that they have CD-ROM drives that either can't play the music tracks or they have disabled CD audio on that device. We've disabled the portion of the CD authentication that checked for the music tracks since it was tripping up legitimate customers. Of course they still won't hear the music until they get their CD audio fixed, but they would have that with any game that uses CD music.
2. Adjusted the default configuration for multiplayer to be more appropriate for people with lower speed modems or with high ping/bad packet loss.

3. The default rate for LAN games is now set to 9999. Previously the LAN rate was being set to the be the same as the Internet rate.

4. Removed the WON authentication attempts for LAN games. LAN games are limited to a single Class B address range.

5. Fixed an uninstall issue that may affect custom locations.

6. Fixed an A3D underwater sound bug.

Head on over to halflife.net for the d/l site.
