Fallout Update
Devalin of Fallout sent me news of a map making variety.
Firstly we'd like to thank map author Matt O'Brien who has provided us with
the rmf file for his great map Infiltration. Were hoping more map authors
will make the rmf files available to allow other map makers learn new
techniques and features. Obviously some restrictions exist on reusing
material (ie you shouldnt without permission). Any other map makers who'd
like to post map rmf files please contact us.
Secondly weve posted a new tutorial covering sliding lifts, more tutorials
to come later this week.

QuArk 5.5 released!
I was chcking out other level editors, and noticed that lucky for me, Quark5.5 has been released (1.1 MB). I have to confess that once, Worldcraft was the _only- level editor I'd use... but now I'm not so sure, it has so many unforgiving bits that I just hate. Here is the blurb from the QuArK Website, i'll give you the full lowdown once I've given it a thourogh going over.
The main news is the new status : QuArK is now "free software". Beware ! This does NOT mean freeware ! Please read at least the first few lines of this document for more information about it. Other news (see "whatsnew.txt" for details) :
- OpenGL acceleration
- Support for Half-Life .bsp's
- Fixed .bsp saving
- Default Sin textures
- Map editor QuickKeys
- New map with better texture position
- Fixed registry read-only access
- other minor bug and memory hole fixes

Biased Map Reviews?
Whilst browsing PHL I saw a referance to a must get map called Dr.Zeuss so I downloaded it and err... where was the 'must play' bit? Just goes to show. What it shows I dont know. But it goes to show anyway. heh :}
Also there have been referances to the team9 map released in the recent Valve Multi-Player Content Pack as being badly made or something... rubbish, its an excellent teamplay map, just like the coolio ones around for Quakeworld clanplay, pangs of androm9 anyone? So take all reviews with a pinch of salt. Look at the screenshots and make up your own mind if you want to download them.
Fallout Singleplayer
Got word from about a new singleplayer map released via their site Fallout. Here is the blurb...
Weve just posted a new single player map by Matt O'Brien, the map although a
little short is well worth downloading. Basically its a tough fight against
the grunts to free the head scientist.
Just a reminder were still looking for pictures of single player maps that
are in creation or near completion for out pic preview. Were also running a
poll to determine what type of tutorials people want (predicatably scripted
sequences are leading the way at the moment)
Please pass this news on,
Thanks
Devalin
So I suggest you head over to Fallout and check out this map.
