The crowbar is the weapon that you start Half-Life with, and your bat for
Head Crab Baseball. The crowbar is not very good at killing things, so you might want to search around a bit before you attack
those big monsters such as the Alien Grunt. But, once you find another weapon, the crowbar won't be a useless item. It is needed to pry
open vents and crates to find ammo, weapons, and get to otherwise inaccessible areas. It multiplayer, your name will be engraved on the
crowbar, so when you whack someone, everyone will see who did that because of the imprints you leave on the person's body.
After you've searched, killed, and pried things open for a while, you will have
found a pistol. According to Gabe Newell there will be more than one type of pistol in the game. The one that you will most likely
is a Glock .9 mm that holds either 17, 15, or 8 rounds (most likely 17). Remember you may have something that shoots, but it's not a
rocket launcher. It'll take out small baddies fast, but don't count on killing an Alien Grunt with it.
Now you are ready for almost anything with your HK-MP5. This thing is a bigger,
faster, stronger, and more powerful pistol that kill many monsters in a matter of seconds. The only down side is that it will probably eat through ammo
quickly because it is a sub-machine gun. For those bigger and stronger monsters you might want to put on a grenade attachment for a lot more
firepower.
